Soccer Recap: Portal Takes a Loss

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Portal and Metter have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Portal Panthers fell just short of the Metter Tigers by a score of 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Bruno Navarro and Blake Shipman scored both of Portal's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Portal's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Metter, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Portal challenge Claxton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Metter, they will venture away from home to square off against McIntosh County Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for McIntosh County Academy: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Metter has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
