Soccer Game Preview: Maranatha vs. Flintridge Prep

The Maranatha Minutemen will challenge the Flintridge Prep Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Maranatha comes in on three and Flintridge Prep on five.

On Tuesday, Maranatha sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Village Christian. The victory was all the more spectacular given Maranatha's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 823rd, while Village Christian are ranked 408th).

Meanwhile, Flintridge Prep won against Mayfield on Friday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. Wolves walked away with a 3-1 win over Chadwick.

Flintridge Prep hit the Dolphins with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Anjuli Rao, Julia Krause, and Gianna Simonian.

Flintridge Prep's victory bumped their record up to 8-4-3. As for Maranatha, their win bumped their record up to 3-9-1.

Maranatha suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Flintridge Prep in their previous meeting back in December of 2015. Can the Minutemen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
