Baseball Recap: Jacksonville Victorious

Jacksonville got themselves on the board against Springfield Southeast on Tuesday, but Springfield Southeast never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Spartans. The victory continues a trend for the Crimsons in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.

AJ Charpentier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jacksonville is 5-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 12-13 otherwise. Charpentier was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Jacksonville let Joe Reif and Jacob Henry run wild. Reif went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Henry went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Jacksonville's win bumped their record up to 17-14. As for Springfield Southeast, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-17 record.

Jacksonville will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
