Soccer Game Preview: Gilmer vs. Calhoun

The Gilmer Bobcats will take on the Calhoun Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gilmer's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Pickens. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Calhoun entered their tilt with Adairsville on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Tigers 5-0. Give the Yellow Jackets' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Gilmer pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Calhoun, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Gilmer might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Calhoun when the teams last played back in March of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gilmer was down 3-0.
