Basketball Recap: Emily Rebok Key Part of Team Effort in Flames Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Shalom Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Science Leadership Academy at Beeber Rockets by a score of 60-50. Given the Flames' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Rockets are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shalom Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Rebok, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 20 points along with five boards and five steals. Those five steals gave Rebok a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Adams, who shot 48% from the field on her way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Shalom Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are 14-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Science Leadership Academy at Beeber saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raegan Wells-Bradley almost dropped a double-double with 35 points and nine boards. That was a full 70% of Science Leadership Academy at Beeber's points, marking the 14th time in a row Wells-Bradley has posted more than a third of the team's points. Trace Vanderpool was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Shalom Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-3.

Shalom Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 23-18 defeat against Williams Valley on the 11th. Science Leadership Academy at Beeber does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
