Recap: North Star Cougars vs. Windber Ramblers
The North Star Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 57-16 loss at the hands of Windber. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Star has scored all season.
Windber got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariah Andrews out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 22 rebounds. Andrews is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Gaye, who scored 12 points along with six steals.
North Star dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.5 points per game. As for Windber, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
North Star will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Glendale at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Glendale is ranked 601st, while North Star is ranked 584th). As for Windber, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Moshannon Valley at 7:15 p.m. Moshannon Valley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
