Basketball Recap: Anaheim Beats Loara for Their Third Straight Win

Anaheim had won two straight games and Melia Hinojos did her part to make it three on Friday. The Anaheim Colonists walked away with a 62-50 win over the Loara Saxons thanks in part to Hinojos, who went 11 of 16 on her way to 29 points and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Anaheim's points.

Ashley Guzman was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six steals and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Loara still got an impressive performance from Sophia Rangel, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 18 boards. Rangel is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last 16 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angela Ngo, who posted seven points and ten boards.

Anaheim's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Loara, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Savanna the next time they take the court. Loara will host Savanna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Anaheim will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st.
