Basketball Recap: Don Lugo Takes a Loss

Don Lugo lost against Diamond Ranch last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Don Lugo Conquistadores were beaten by the Diamond Ranch Panthers 55-23. While losing is never fun, the Conquistadores can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 953rd, while the Panthers are ranked 283rd).

Diamond Ranch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amanda Uyeda out in front who went 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points and three steals. Uyeda has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Wint, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Don Lugo has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Diamond Ranch, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Don Lugo has already played their next contest, a 32-22 defeat against Montclair on the 29th. As for Diamond Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-37 win against Ontario on the 29th.
