Recap: Redwood Christian Eagles vs. Athenian Owls

In what's become a running theme this season, the Redwood Christian Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 72-19 victory over Athenian at home. Given Redwood Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 607th, while Athenian is ranked 1224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redwood Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nia Rogers, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine steals. That makes it 24 consecutive games in which Rogers has scored at least a third of Redwood Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Chisom Nwebube, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Redwood Christian pushed their record up to 17-7 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Athenian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Redwood Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Bentley at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Athenian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
