Athens is 10-0 against Canton since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Athens Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Canton Warriors at 7:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Athens is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Wellsboro with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 54-35. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Hornets are ranked 471st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Canton came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 59-31 victory over the Redskins. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Canton, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Athens didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Canton when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 36-32 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Athens since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
