Baseball Recap: Piedmont Academy Takes a Loss

Piedmont Academy lost against John Milledge Academy back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Piedmont Academy might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-5 to John Milledge Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nick Gervasio was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Jack Adams was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Statham, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Piedmont Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for John Milledge Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

While Piedmont Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
