Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

The Madison Cubs didn't have quite enough to beat the Columbus North Bull Dogs on Thursday and fell 5-3.

Nash Crafton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Vincent Chen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run. Elliott Kozenski also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Madison has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-6 record this season. As for Columbus North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will welcome Jennings County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Columbus North, they will square off against Decatur Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
