Basketball Recap: Liberty Patriots vs. South Pasadena Tigers
It was a good run, but Liberty unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 58-37 to the South Pasadena Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since December 4, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ellee Statler dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Statler also set a new season-high mark in steals with six. Jannah Davis was another key player, putting up nine points.
Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Pasadena only pulled down eight offensive boards.
Kayla Boozer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Pasadena, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 16 boards. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Boozer has scored at least a third of South Pasadena's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Woo, who posted 12 points.
Liberty now has a losing record at 6-7. As for South Pasadena, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-50 victory against Roosevelt on the 2nd. As for South Pasadena, they will challenge Blair at 5:15 p.m. on January 8th. The timing is sure in South Pasadena's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Blair has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
