Basketball Game Preview: Moniteau Warriors vs. Lakeview Sailors

The Moniteau Warriors will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Lakeview Sailors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Moniteau is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Cranberry Area just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a hard 55-36 fall against the Berries.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Emily Matz, who posted seven points and nine rebounds. Sophia Fleeger was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lakeview waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-39 victory over the Knights.

Lakeview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Moniteau, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-6.

Moniteau came up short against Lakeview when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 47-40. Can Moniteau avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
