Soccer Game Preview: Mayfield vs. Alamogordo

The Mayfield Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Alamogordo Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mayfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked 16th at the time (Mayfield was ranked 17th). The Trojans fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Mayfield couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Alamogordo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost 4-1 to Organ Mountain.

Alamogordo's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Mayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4-1.

Mayfield took their win against Alamogordo in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 6-1 score. In that matchup, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
