Softball Recap: Independence Mustangs vs. West Delaware Hawks
Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Delaware Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on Tuesday.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for West Delaware, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will challenge Vinton-Shellsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Delaware, they will face off against Grinnell at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
