For the first time this season, Ellis will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Trego Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ellis will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Ellis is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against LaCrosse by a score of 44-32 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Railroaders in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now won three in a row.
Trenton Schartz was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 123 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles.

Ellis' defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB nine times. Brody Fischer led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself. Those four sacks set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, Trego was able to grind out a solid victory over Wichita County on Friday, taking the game 56-46.
Trego's win came from a few key players Ellis will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jack Conness, who rushed for 142 yards and four scores. Conness is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Ashton Wynn was another key player, rushing for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Trego was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Trego didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Wynn, Darris Brown, and Vladon Crawford picked up one apiece. Wynn got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Ellis' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Trego, their record is now 4-0.
Ellis came up short against Trego in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 52-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wynn, who rushed for 178 yards and six TDs. Now that the Railroaders know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
