Basketball Recap: Moreau Catholic Takes Down University in a Playoff Battle

Moreau Catholic extended their postseason success on Saturday against University. They came out on top against the University Red Devils by a score of 48-41.

Moreau Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaliya Kirkwood, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 21 boards. Kirkwood is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games she's played. Ava Bowens was another key player, putting up 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Moreau Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 29 consecutive contests.

Moreau Catholic has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for University and nudges their season record down to 19-11.

Coming up, Moreau Catholic will be playing at home against University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Moreau Catholic surely won't give up without a fight. University does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
