Football Recap: Sharyland Starts off Right with Win over Weslaco East

Sharyland gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-28 victory over the Weslaco East Wildcats. For the Rattlers, this counts as revenge for the 33-27 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Calvin Harris went supernova, throwing for 241 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushing for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. What's more, he racked up 146 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Martinez, who picked up 69 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Coming up, Sharyland will head out to challenge Hanna at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Weslaco East, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mission at 7:00 p.m.
