Football Recap: Asa Wall Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Brentwood

John Milledge Academy took a 27-point loss the last time they faced off against Brentwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans skirted past the War Eagles 31-28. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 33-6 victory the War Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead John Milledge Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Asa Wall, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD, and also picked up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown. Wall didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles. Bryce McDonel also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.

John Milledge Academy didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Brentwood to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: McDonel, Jamel Cooper, and Malek Dorsey, who each logged one passes deflected. John Milledge Academy wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.9%.

Several War Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristan Robinson, who rushed for 133 yards and one score on only nine carries. Robinson's longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Baylor Cobb was another key player, rushing for 67 yards on only nine carries.

John Milledge Academy's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points on average over those games. As for Brentwood, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 5-1.
