Baseball Game Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. Bremen Blue Devils

The Alexander Cougars will head out to take on the Bremen Blue Devils at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Alexander faced off against Westlake on Wednesday. The Cougars took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bremen). Everything went their way against South Paulding on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-3 victory. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Bremen got a great performance from Jackson Martin as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bradon Beckwith was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Helton, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bremen's record now sits at 6-1. As for Alexander, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Alexander suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Bremen when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
