Football Game Preview: Hozho Academy Wolves vs. McCurdy Bobcats + Official Tickets

The Hozho Academy Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the McCurdy Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hozho Academy has six straight victories, McCurdy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Hozho Academy had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 50-point drubbing they dealt Laguna Acoma on Friday. The Wolves simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawks 50-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolves considering their nine-point performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, McCurdy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 34-28 to Navajo Prep. The Bobcats gained 147 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

Hozho Academy will have to contain JJ Vigil as he made an impact in McCurdy's last game. He rushed for 236 yards and four touchdowns. Vigil is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 103 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Julian Nino, who rushed for 156 yards.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Patrick Lovato for the heroic effort on defense: he. McCurdy didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.1.

McCurdy now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Hozho Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Hozho Academy couldn't quite finish off McCurdy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 and fell 42-40. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
