Baseball Game Preview: Johnson County Trojans vs. Glascock County Panthers

For the second straight game, Johnson County will face off against Glascock County. Johnson County will host Glascock County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Johnson County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Glascock County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Tuesday, Johnson County earned a 6-3 victory over Glascock County. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

S. Stapleton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Johnson County got a great performance from S. Newsome as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). What's more, Newsome gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on O. Wilcher, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of N. Tuberville, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Johnson County pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Glascock County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
