Calvary Christian Academy, Hoover among four teams in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings to win state titles

No. 25 Archbishop Riordan is the only newcomer in the national rankings this week.

Four teams in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings completed their state tournament runs in glory as No. 3 Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), No. 6 Hoover (Ala.), No. 11 Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) and No. 14 Highland (Warrenton, Va.) captured titles in their respective states.

Other results of note last week included both No. 4 Brennan (San Antonio) and No. 8 Allen advancing to the Class 6A Division 1 state semifinals in Texas, No. 9 Wheeler (Marietta) taking down previous No. 10 Grayson (Loganville) in the Class AAAAAA semifinals in Georgia, No. 5 Roosevelt (Eastvale) knocking off No. 16 Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) in California's Southern Section Open Division title game and Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.) pulling off an upset over previous No. 12 Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.) in the VISAA Division I semifinals.

Looking ahead, No. 1 Columbus (Miami, Fla.) and No. 7 Perry (Gilbert, Ariz.) hope to make history Saturday and join 51 other schools all-time to win four straight state titles in the highest classification of their state. Columbus would join Dillard (Fort Lauderdale) from 2000-04 in Florida and Perry would join Mesa from 1923-26, Phoenix Union from 1958-61 and Corona del Sol (Tempe) from 2012-15) in Arizona.

Other games to watch Saturday include a potential showdown between Brennan and Allen in the Class 6A Division I title game, Wheeler vs. Newton (Covington) in the Class AAAAAA state title game in Georgia and potential showdowns of No. 2 Harvard-Westlake (Studio City) vs. Roosevelt and No. 13 St. Joseph (Santa Maria) vs. Notre Dame in the Open Division quarterfinals of California.

Completed their run to the Class 3A state championship with a 68-66 triumph against The Villages in the title game sparked by a game-winning putback with two seconds remaining from junior K.J. Francis. Four-star sophomore Cayden Daughtry led the way with a game-high 23 points in the win.

Blew past Steele (Cibolo) 68-39 behind a game-high 29 points from five-star Houston signee Kingston Flemings to advance to the Class 6A Division 1 state semifinals, where they face Bellaire tonight.

Captured the Open Division Southern Section crown with a 74-67 victory over No. 18 Notre Dame led by a team-high 19 points apiece from five-star senior Brayden Burries and senior guard Myles Walker. The Mustangs take on the winner of Harvard-Westlake and St. John Bosco on Saturday in the Open Division state quarterfinals.

Became the first Class 7A team to complete an unbeaten state championship run, knocking off Florence 66-56 in the title game for their third straight state championship. Senior guard Jarett Fairley scored a team-high 21 points while four-star Tennessee signee DeWayne Brown chipped in 14 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks and three-star UAB signee Salim London chipped in 18.

Despite receiving crushing news that five-star senior Koa Peat will miss the remainder of the postseason due to a hand injury, the Pumas knocked off Ironwood 67-45 behind 34 points and 14 rebounds from Missouri-Kansas City commit D'Andre Harrison to advance to the Open Division state semifinals.

Advanced to the state semifinals for the first time since 2018 with a 62-44 victory over Marcus (Flower Mound) paced by 16 points from senior guard Antonio Shannon. The Eagles face Duncanville in the Class 6A Division 1 state semifinals tonight.

Avenged its only in-state loss with a 68-53 triumph over previous No. 10 Grayson in the Class AAAAAA state semifinals. Senior forward Mansur McClain pumped in 18 points, four-star sophomore Kevin Savage added 14 and junior guard Lamarrion Lewis chipped in 13 off the bench.

Closed out regular season action with a 37-game win streak dating back to last season led by 22 points from sophomore Cooper Zachary. The Tigers enter postseason play as the favorite to capture their second consecutive state title.

Knocked off three-time defending state champion Sidwell Friends 67-51 in the DCSAA Class AA championship game behind a balanced effort that saw all five starters record 12 or more points. Three-star Harvard pledge Alex Touomou scored a team-high 15 points while four-star Xavier signee Nykolas Lewis chipped in 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in the victory.

The Justices averaged 126.7 points per contest while outscoring their opponents by 67 points per outing en route to the Class 2 Region A title.

After capturing the Central Section Division I title with a 54-33 win over Buchanan (Clovis), the Knights were sent South for the second consecutive year as they will begin Open Division state tournament play against the winner between No. 18 Notre Dame and Montgomery (San Diego) in the state quarterfinals.

Captured the VISAA Division I state championship with a 56-51 win over Bishop O'Connell (Arlington) in the title game. Top five senior Nate Ament closed out an impressive career with 24 points and 18 rebounds in the winning effort.

Advanced to the Hinsdale sectional semifinals with a 78-72 triumph against Oak Lawn led by 25 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and four blocks from three-star senior Aleks Alston. The Broncos take on Simeon (Chicago) tonight with a trip to the sectional title game on the line.

Fell to No. 5 Roosevelt 74-67 in the Open Division Southern Section title game despite top-ranked junior Tyran Stokes pumping in a game-high 21 points in the loss. The Knights begin Open Division state tournament play tomorrow with a first round showdown versus Montgomery (San Diego).

Closed out the regular season with a pair of lopsided wins over Park Hill South (Riverside) and Liberty to extend their winning-streak to 24 games.
