Football Recap: Jacob Estevez and Kaiden Hare Lead the Defense for Sierra Vista Win

While Sierra Vista put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Chaparral. The Mountain Lions blew past the Cowboys 21-0. That's two games straight that the Mountain Lions have won by exactly 21 points.

Caleb Green had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 105 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. Another big playmaker for Sierra Vista was Jordan Aaron, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sierra Vista was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 85.3 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five matches they've averaged 226.7.

Sierra Vista's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. The heavy lifting was done by Jacob Estevez and Kaiden Hare, who racked up four sacks between them. Hare is becoming a predictor of Sierra Vista's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Sierra Vista's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Chaparral, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
