Volleyball Recap: Cary Imps vs. Sanderson Spartans
Cary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Sanderson Spartans. The Imps were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 3-1.
Cary was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Sanderson work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 26-24, 25-23.
Ireland Colson paced Cary's offense, picking up 13 kills. Colson got some help from Joanna Choi and her 20 assists.
Sanderson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryleigh Roche led the charge by getting 17 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Roche a new career-high. Mireya Chavez was another key player, getting 18 digs and one assist.
Cary's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Sanderson, their win ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.
Looking ahead, Cary will challenge Felton Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sanderson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against East Wake on the 6th.
