Basketball Game Preview: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. Templeton Eagles

Cabrillo is 9-0 against Templeton since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cabrillo Conquistadores will face off against the Templeton Eagles at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cabrillo has four straight victories, Templeton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Cabrillo strolled past Lompoc with points to spare, taking the game 43-26.

Among those leading the charge was Jasmyn Hughes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Angeliyah Gonzales was another key player, putting up 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Cabrillo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Templeton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 38-32 to Paso Robles. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly six points.

Cabrillo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Templeton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Cabrillo strolled past Templeton in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 by a score of 35-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cabrillo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
