Softball Recap: Cache Takes a Loss

Cache extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 22-13. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Elgin Owls. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Elgin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Elgin's part, Kynslie Maples spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kynli Garrett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Adlynn McCracken, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cache will host Apache at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elgin, they will face off against Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
