Softball Recap: Lake Oconee Academy Takes a Loss

Lake Oconee Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the George Walton Academy Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-1 loss on August 7th.

Lola Slaughter made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Beth Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lake Oconee Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for George Walton Academy, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Oconee Academy will face off against Towns County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Titans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for George Walton Academy, they will take on Tattnall Square Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
