Basketball Recap: Escalon Takes a Loss

Escalon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Patterson Tigers. The Cougars lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in December of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 47-17 score last time.

Patterson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyse Lomeli, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 12 points and six assists. Kailani Ortiz was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Escalon's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Patterson, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Escalon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-47 defeat against Kimball on the 27th. As for Patterson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-37 victory against Argonaut on the 26th.
