Basketball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

Liberty's tournament run continued when they took on Brawley on Saturday. The Liberty Bison lost 50-25 to the Brawley Wildcats. The Bison have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mireya De La Riva posted eight points and four steals.

Brawley found their leader in freshman Lucca Rubin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bre Montano, who earned seven points and ten rebounds.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Brawley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.

Liberty will take on Palm Desert in a tournament on Monday. As for Brawley, they will be taking part in a tournament against Downey at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Downey will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Brawley surely won't give up without a fight.
