Softball Recap: Gretna Wins High-Profile Contest Against Westview

Gretna faced Westview in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Dragons walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Wolverines. The win was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Taelyn Rupiper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kenadie Barton was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Burrell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Gretna's victory bumped their record up to 27-7. As for Westview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 20-11.

As of now, neither Gretna nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
