Basketball Recap: Highlands Scots vs. Golden Sierra Grizzlies

Highlands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies, falling 44-13. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Scots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-14 on January 3rd.

Golden Sierra got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mary Nicole Turner out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten steals. Turner's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Peyton Lesher was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 rebounds and 12 steals.

Highlands' loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Golden Sierra, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Highlands will venture away from home to face off against Mesa Verde at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mesa Verde's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Highlands' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Golden Sierra, they will welcome Vacaville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
