Recap: Wasco Tigers vs. Taft Wildcats
The Wasco Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They lost to Taft at home by a decisive 62-48 margin. Wasco has not had much luck with Taft recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Wasco lost, one person who can't be blamed is Camila Almanza. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Almanza has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassandra Evangelista, who scored six points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Taft to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alaysia Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Taylor continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taira Leota, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Wasco's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-16. As for Taft, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wasco will take on Shafter at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Shafter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. As for Taft, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Delano at 6:30 p.m.
