Peak to Peak hasn't had much luck against The Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Pumas will challenge the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Peak to Peak's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
Peak to Peak gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Kennedy. The Pumas might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Karina Lefort was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Peak to Peak let Peyton Eckert and Evelyn Kraft run wild. Eckert went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Kraft went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most runs Kraft has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Haskins, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Peak to Peak hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, The Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Forge Christian, falling 12-1.
The Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Scott, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
The Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Peak to Peak, their record now sits at 9-13.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Peak to Peak hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like The Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Peak to Peak suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to The Academy in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Pumas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
