Football Game Preview: Arkansas City Bulldogs vs. Newton Railroaders + Official Tickets

The Arkansas City Bulldogs will take on the Newton Railroaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Arkansas City is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Arkansas City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Goddard on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Lions are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Newton might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Hutchinson who claimed the real prize. The Railroaders were just a hair shy of victory and fell 15-14 to the Salthawks. The Railroaders were up 14-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Arkansas City will need to focus on slowing down Kolbie Espada, one of several Newton players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 103 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 62 yards. Kingston Henry helped out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards.

Arkansas City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything went Arkansas City's way against Newton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Arkansas City made off with a 26-0 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Railroaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
