Recap: Smethport Hubbers vs. Austin Panthers
The Smethport Hubbers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 36-27 to Austin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Smethport in their matchups with Austin: they've now lost three in a row.
Smethport lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elizabeth Hungiville, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 rebounds. Hungiville is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Goodman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Smethport has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Austin, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Smethport on the road again on Tuesday and play against Oswayo Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Austin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cameron County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cameron County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 18.
