Softball Recap: Elkins Takes a Loss

Bridgeport hit Elkins with a six-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Indians by a score of 12-10. Even though they lost, the Tigers' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Maddie Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and ten unearned) runs on 13 hits.

On the hitting side, Gabby Mahanes made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Meria Tarley, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Elkins' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-15. As for Bridgeport, they moved to 7-17 with that victory, which also ended their 12-game losing streak.

Elkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bridgeport, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Keyser at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Golden Tornado have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
