Baseball Recap: Westminster Comes Up Short

Westminster had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it six. They fell just short of the Pace Academy Knights by a score of 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Pace Academy's part, Alston Mallis was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mallis was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other pitching news, Sawyer Barnette looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

Looking ahead, Westminster will host Landmark Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pace Academy, they will take on Whitefield Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
