Football Recap: Churchill County Greenwave vs. Elko Indians

If Churchill County was riding high fresh off their 42-15 takedown of Fernley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Greenwave fell just short of the Elko Indians by a score of 31-28 on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Greenwave, who until this contest were averaging 6.56 points allowed.

Despite the defeat, Churchill County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Camden Richardson rushed for 49 yards and two scores, and also threw for 41 yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Calin Anderson, who picked up 57 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Greenwave are facing the Buckaroos at the right time seeing as the Buckaroos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Elko, they will face off against Spring Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
