Football Recap: Crimson Cliffs Piles Up the Points Against Cedar Valley

Crimson Cliffs had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-point drubbing they dealt Cedar Valley on Friday. The Mustangs blew past the Aviators 42-14. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Aviators are ranked 58th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crimson Cliffs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Van Dailey, who rushed for 158 yards and three scores while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Dailey is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 107 every time he's taken the field this season. Tanoai Andresen was another key passer, throwing for 181 yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crimson Cliffs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Crimson Cliffs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Lincoln Langston.

Crimson Cliffs now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cedar Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Crimson Cliffs has already played their next matchup, a 35-29 victory against Brighton on the 5th. As for Cedar Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 52-14 defeat against Mountain Ridge on the 5th.
