Recap: Westridge Tigers vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares

The Westridge Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Rio Hondo Prep 61-30. While losing is never fun, Westridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 788th, while Rio Hondo Prep is ranked 391st).

Tara Riley continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rio Hondo Prep, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riley has scored all season. Emma Carson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Westridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Rio Hondo Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westridge will take on Chadwick at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Chadwick has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 26. As for Rio Hondo Prep, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Polytechnic at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Polytechnic will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
