Baseball Game Preview: Phillipsburg Stateliners vs. Ridge Red Devil

Phillipsburg hasn't had much luck against Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Stateliners will be playing at home against the Red Devil at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Phillipsburg lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Warren Hills Regional, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Stateliners were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Blue Streaks on Monday. That looming 14-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stateliners yet this season.

Meanwhile, Ridge owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They blew past Hillsborough 7-0. The Red Devil not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 13-3).

Phillipsburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-11. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.

Phillipsburg couldn't quite get it done against Ridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-5. Can the Stateliners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
