            Softball Preview: Mt. Zion Eagles vs. Hiram Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            The Mt. Zion Eagles will face off against the Hiram Hornets at 5:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Mt. Zion will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Mt. Zion's pitching crew heads into the  game  hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed  on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Landmark Christian with a sharp  12-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won 14 matchups by more than six  runs this season, Tuesday's  blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Hiram, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Southeast Whitfield County  12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Hornets have posted  since September 15th.
 Sophie Epperson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned  (and eight unearned) runs off   nine  hits. Epperson was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with two  runs and two  RBI. That's the most  runs  she has posted since back in September.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Marlee Greathouse, who  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs. Those  five  RBI gave  her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Dannielyn Smith, who  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  runs.
 Hiram was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  batting average total in four consecutive  contests.
 Mt. Zion's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Hiram, their win bumped their record up to 6-19.
 Mt. Zion took their  victory against Hiram  when the teams last played  back in September by a conclusive  16-3 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success,  or do  the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
