Soccer Game Preview: Ocean View vs. Costa Mesa

The Ocean View Seahawks will challenge the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Ocean View is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Katella. While losing is never fun, the Seahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 785th, while the Knights are ranked 207th).

Meanwhile, Costa Mesa fell victim to Laguna Hills and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 1-0. Considering the last time the Mustangs couldn't score was back in December of 2024, the team can't take the result too hard.

Costa Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1. As for Ocean View, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-2.

Ocean View skirted past Costa Mesa 3-2 when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Will Ocean View repeat their success, or does Costa Mesa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
