Basketball Recap: Ripon Christian Takes a Loss

Ripon Christian was the 37-17 winner over Hilmar when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ripon Christian Knights took a 31-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilmar Yellowjackets on Tuesday. The Knights' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Emma Gomes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hilmar, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Gomes a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Ava Stivers, who posted six points and six assists.

Ripon Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Hilmar, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

Ripon Christian will head out to square off against Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ripon Christian is facing Hughson at the right time seeing as Hughson is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Hilmar, they will challenge Escalon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
