Basketball Recap: Mira Loma Comes Up Short

Mira Loma played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Burbank Titans, falling 61-38. The Matadors were down 47-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Burbank got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aniyah Bufford out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 24 rebounds. Bufford has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 22 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Daejahmonni Tagger, who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Mira Loma has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Burbank, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mira Loma will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Colfax at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Burbank also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Foresthill at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
