Volleyball Recap: Swansboro Falls to New Bern in First Game of Season

Swansboro had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the New Bern Bears on Thursday. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bears 25-13 in the first set.

Swansboro started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 13-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21.

New Bern can attribute much of their success to William Gay, who had 22 assists and three aces.

The victory got New Bern back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Swansboro will venture away from home to face off against NCSSM: Durham at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for New Bern, they will host New Bern Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
