 On Monday, the Cristo Rey Saints faced the Westlake Charter Explorers  in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cristo Rey's defense stepped up to hand Westlake Charter a  2-0 shutout. This was a revenge  contest for Cristo Rey, as the team was forced to settle for a  4-2 defeat when these two played  last Thursday.
 They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of 
 Alexia Alejo and 
 Desiree Venegas, who scored both of Cristo Rey's goals.  The pair have combined for a total of ten so far this season.
 Cristo Rey pushed their record up to 5-1 with that  win, which was their third straight  at home. As for Westlake Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cristo Rey will take on Leroy Greene Academy at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Westlake Charter, they will look to defend their home pitch  on Wednesday against Western Sierra Collegiate Academy at 4:00  p.m.
