Basketball Recap: Ligonier Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Steel Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ligonier Valley). They walked away with a 51-43 win over the Steel Valley Ironmen on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ligonier Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydnee Foust out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 22 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Foust has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Abby Springer, who posted six points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Ligonier Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Ligonier Valley's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Steel Valley, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Ligonier Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-17 defeat against United on the 17th. As for Steel Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-9 win against East Allegheny on the 19th.
